MATTRESS CORNER
Ahhh…it’s always a good feeling to relax after a long day in the comfort of your own bed, and a good night’s sleep is always welcome. If you’re not getting that good night’s sleep, though, you should get in touch with Bill Gaines at Mattress Corner, our featured Merchant of the Month.
A longtime resident of Calvert County, Bill has been in the furniture and mattress business, in one way or another, since he graduated from high school. His mother worked for a local furniture store for many years, and his family eventually purchased the store in 1989. In 1994 the family began to specialize in mattress sales, and the rest is history! Mattress Corner’s Lexington Park store, at the corner of Great Mills Road and Shangri-La Drive, opened in 1995 and has been providing customers with comfortable sleep ever since. In 2007, Bill opened a second location on Route 301 in La Plata. Bill’s mom is still in the business as the owner and operator of a third location in Prince Frederick.
Mattress Corner offers several brands of mattresses to choose from, including the popular Tempur-Pedic line of mattresses and specialty pillows. Other brands in the stores include Sealy, Simmons Beautyrest, Symbol, and Stearns and Foster. Bedding accessories, such as mattress protectors and standard pillows, are also available. If you’re in the market for a bed frame to go along with your new mattress, you can choose from standard frames as well as beds made of wood, metal, and wrought iron. Futons and daybeds are popular items, too. Mattress Corner also offers delivery to Charles, St. Mary’s, Calvert, and Anne Arundel Counties.
Some people find shopping for a mattress to be confusing, but Mattress Corner takes the difficulty out of the process by providing you with honesty and good customer service – they find out what you really need, rather than try to sell you the hottest new mattress on the market. Many of Bill’s customers are repeat customers as well as referrals from existing customers.
Depending on the quality of the mattress and the type of use it receives, a mattress should last you 12-15 years (most people replace their mattress at the 12-year point). When it comes time to purchase a new mattress for any reason, Bill offers the following advice: be sure to purchase what is most comfortable for you! Take the time to stretch out on a number of mattresses in the store to find the right one. Look for a mattress with at least 400 coils and substantial padding, and be sure you’re comfortable with your choice before you purchase. To be sure that you are truly happy with your new mattress, Mattress Corner offers a 30-day comfort warranty with every mattress they sell. If you find that your mattress is not as comfortable as you thought when you purchased it, simply return it to the store within the 30-day period and exchange it for another one (additional charges apply if you choose a more expensive mattress than your initial choice).
As the Merchant of the Month,
Bill is offering a 10% discount to fellow Cash Flow Plus merchants and friends until January 15, 2009.
